Its located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by the woody and bushy grassland.
The Park is 164 kms Northwest of the capital city Nairobi making it easy to make a day trip out of the busy city and experience the amazing encounter with wildlife.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrating the flamingos and abundant wildlife and also one of the alkaline lakes found in the Rift valley.
The National Park is most renowned for the tens of thousands of flamingos which can be over a million at the peak depending on the conditions.
Predator species include the lion, cheetah, leopard, hyenas, Rothschild’s giraffe (an endangered species), rhinos (both white and black species) and pythons.
The Park is a spectacular place for birdwatching with over 400 bird species accounting for the diverse predator bird species. Birdwatchers can also hope to see the African fish eagle, goliath heron, verreaux’s eagle, kingfisher and the abundance of flamingos.
